Even though Everton officially signed 19-year-old Spanish left-back Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich on Tuesday, manager David Moyes admitted the team faces considerable pressure in the transfer market. Aznou becomes Everton's third major summer signing, signing a four-year contract. The club also signed Chalobah, a towering center forward known as "Aerial King," from Villarreal, and Travers, the backup goalkeeper who played for Bournemouth last season. Brazilian attacking midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, who was loaned from Flamingo last season, has also been officially bought out by the club. According to Transfermarkt, Aznou performed well for Osasuna last season, scoring two goals and providing four assists, while averaging 1.7 interceptions per game, demonstrating his potential as a versatile and capable player. Coming from the youth team, he has performed outstandingly in Bilbao's youth and second teams, playing 48 games in two years, helping to further consolidate Everton's defense.

The manager is openly concerned about the transfer process being hindered

However, Moyes spoke candidly at a press conference in Chicago, admitting that the team's recruitment efforts are more challenging than expected. "It's true that we haven't signed many players yet. We're very keen to expedite the process, as the new season is just around the corner. I have to be honest with the fans: we do have challenges attracting new players." He added, "Everton is a major club with a century of tradition. The new stadium should have attracted more players, but looking back over the past five seasons, we've been on the brink of relegation multiple times, finishing last season in 15th place (40 points from 38 games), which may have made some players hesitant about making transfer decisions." According to Sky Sports, Everton has averaged a 15th-place finish in the Premier League over the past five seasons, having twice avoided relegation in the final round. Since Moyes returned to the helm mid-season, the team's performance has improved significantly, with 17 points from their first ten league games (5 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses), giving them a boost in their hopes of securing relegation.

Building the future requires reasonable expectations

Despite the completion of the new stadium and the new direction of management recruitment, Moyes admits that Everton's return to the top of the Premier League in the short term remains a challenge. Looking ahead to the new season, the focus will be on whether new signings Ayslo and Charlton will quickly integrate, and whether Moyes can rely on young talent and a solid defense to help the team secure relegation status sooner rather than later.
